MEET OUR TEAM
Matt Stetson –
co-founder/Head Cidermaker Matt began his career in the alcohol beverage world as a Sommelier working for a grocery store chain in South Florida. The wine world in combination with a growing family gave many reasons to leave his previous careers in music and technology behind. After completing his Sommelier L.II certification, he was invited to participate in his family’s wine distribution business in Michigan. He worked as a regional sales manager with the company for nearly two years, but the economy in Southeastern Michigan was not a healthy one after the events of late 2001. Matt and his family returned to their previous home in South Florida. He came back to the area with even stronger retail and distribution knowledge and certifications from various wine associations and organizations. From there, he went to work for a series of beverage distribution companies in the prestigious Palm Beach Island and surrounding area. Unfortunately, there was a lack of passion from companies distributing wine in Florida and Matt was forced to pursue income from non beverage industries for awhile while moonlighting in restaurants and retailers as a sommelier. Enter today: a combination of factors including his passion for the beverage industry, his personal interest and love for the craft beer world, his intense desire and experience to create, and a good dose of raw fate have led to the creation of Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks. The Accomplice presents the chance to create not only beer, but also sake, mead, cider, wine, sodas and many other beverages. These opportunities would never be possible if not for his “accomplices”. “In twenty years you make many connections. It’s your choice what you do with them”. Matt has chose to make many of them his “partners in crime”. After all; beer is always better with friends.
Felonice Merriman – Co-founder/Marketing
Over four years ago, Felonice and her partner, Matt Stetson launched Accomplice Brewery and Ciderworks. Already enjoying being self employed for 9 years as the owner of two other companies, she encouraged Matt to follow his dream of opening a brewery. Due to Felonice having celiac disease, she is unable to digest gluten or wheat and inspired Matt to create ciders and gluten free beers she could enjoy. Together in June 2015, they launched Accomplice Ciderworks and became South Florida’s first cider producer.
Felonice wears many hats at Accomplice, from managing the tasting room, marketing, graphic design, social media, accounting, event coordination to kegging product and her favorite job “lead taste tester”. When Accomplice first opened two years ago, Felonice worked in production as Matt’s assistant helping him make cider and became lead kegger. Since then they have brought on a full time cider maker to assist Matt allowing Felonice to focus more on their growing tasting room business and building the brand.
Justin Hutton aka “Ginger” – Head Cidermaker
Ginger is a native Palm Beach County resident with a passion for craft beverage. He began home brewing five years ago and was formerly one of the World of Beer Wellington top beer club drinkers aka “Beer Gods” by tasting over 3,705 different beers from around the world.
Matt and Felonice met Ginger through a mutual friend and after expressing interesting in working at Accomplice. Three years ago, Ginger was Accomplice’s first official employee and worked part time in our tasting room as a bartender. Eventually, Matt brought him into production part time as well and taught him the ways of cider making. After apprenticing with Matt in production for a year, he has now taken over full time production cider-making at our facility.
